Artistic Treeworks was founded in Richland, Washington, in 1984 by ISA Certified Arborist Howard Madsen, who has worked in professional tree care since 1976 and has maintained continuous ISA Arborist Certification since 1997. His career reflects nearly five decades of hands-on experience, ongoing education, and a deep respect for trees as living systems rather than simply landscape features.

Howard began his tree journey in 1976, working in tree removal and firewood sales before co-founding B&H Tree & Earth Work in Utah.  There, he gained a deeper understanding of plant biology and tree systems. After returning to the Tri-Cities, he founded Artistic Treeworks with a commitment to professional service, sound arboricultural practices, and respect for the role trees play in our community.

Howard has continued learning throughout his career, including training with renowned tree biologist Dr. Alex Shigo, and has served in leadership roles with regional forestry organizations. This combination of experience, education, and practical field knowledge helps clients make informed decisions about their trees.

Today, Artistic Treeworks provides a full range of arborist services including pruning, cabling and bracing, root crown examinations, hazardous tree removals, stump grinding, tree appraisals, and expert consultation.

After more than forty years serving the Tri-Cities and neighboring communities throughout southeastern Washington, the company is known for dependable service, professional expertise, and a genuine commitment to preserving healthy, beautiful trees.
